Antique oak splint market basket with swing handle. This country market basket dates from the early to mid 19th century is in excellent condition and measures 13 inches across by 5 and one half inches high. The handle had Apel written on it.This basket would have been used by the woman of the house when she went to the market to bring back small groceries items.

Buka Basket Papua New Guinea C1960. This "Buka basket" was made by a tribe in New Guinea that is famous for this design and quality. They are consider one of the best basket making tribes. This design is referred to as the Buka Basket. Measures 16 inches across and 20 inches wide to the outside of its handles. Excellent condition.

Antique French willow market basket c1870

Antique French willow market or field basket c1860 to 1880. This antique basket is one of the strongest we have ever seen. It is woven of heavy thick willow. Two wooden slats bolted to the base keep it perfectly stable and off the floor. These two wooden braces are original to the basket. It measures 24 inches across the top, 20 and one half inches high. Across the bottom on the inside, it measures 14 and one half inches. Excellent original condition with a deep rich old patina. It would make an ideal container for logs and kindling next to a fireplace.

Antique Appalachian oak splint buttocks gathering basket by Mary Clausby Burke county North Western Mountains of North Carolina. c1900. This is the best buttocks basket we have ever seen. Tight weaving, perfect patina, excellent condition. The unusual twist knot on the handle was her signature. This basket is a 10. Measures 12 inches by 11 inches by 9 and one half.
